I can’t believe that I am two thirds of the way through this 30 day blog! The days are flying by so quickly. However, I can certainly say that we are getting the most out of every day while we are here.
Today was Carmen, one of our Spanish guests’ 16th birthday. To celebrate the girls decided they wanted to go to the trampoline park. Javi wanted to go along too. See him doing a flip below!
When we got back, I made a birthday cake and we had a celebratory dinner.
Earlier in the day I was having a bit of a tidy out in my office and I came across some old journals. I started to read through them and became captivated. I want to share a few things that I came across that I still use today.
First of all, some of my favourite quotes;
- “State education gets you a job, self education gives you a lifestyle” This is so true. Never stop working on yourself, because it is your best investment.
- “With belief all things are possible, all goals achievable”
- “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” Napoleon Hill
- “I’m working full time on my job and part time on my fortune” Jim Rohn
- “The biggest room in the world is the room for improvement”
- “Don’t wish it was easier, wish you were better” Jim Rohn
- “You can either shrink your dreams to match your income or grow your income to match your dreams”
- “The only thing that has stopped me having everything I want is me” Richard Branson
Then I came across some of the notes I had made on the subject of confidence;
Living a great life that motivates you is a great way of feeling confident about yourself. When you enjoy what you do, you don’t even think about what other people think of you. You are living enthusiastically. When you are enjoying your life, you will more likely believe in yourself and when you believe in yourself you will naturally be more confident.
Having a high level of self esteem is all about feeling good about yourself and this comes from doing something which gives you great satisfaction and enjoyment.
What I have discovered about self confidence is that instead of trying to get people to like you, try to focus on liking yourself a little more. Don’t neglect yourself, give yourself the attention you deserve. Self confident people are happy in their own skin.
Visualisation can help with lack of confidence. For example, before I speak in front of a group of people, however small the group, I visualise the whole event. I see myself giving a great talk and I picture the audience looking really interested in what I have to say. At the end of the talk I visualise the audience clapping loudly and smiling, some of them might even stand up. This makes me feel that the event is going to be a success.
I was once given the advice from a fantastic friend and colleague to say this at the beginning of my talks……
“I am not a professional speaker, but what I have to say is very important”
I can’t tell you how much this helped me in the early days when I was just starting out.
Positive thoughts;
If you think positive thoughts they will lead you to higher self esteem. Positive thoughts strengthen our minds to allow positive personal changes to take place. By not allowing negative thoughts to enter our minds, we do ourselves a lot of favours. If you have enough positive thoughts entering your mind, there will not be room for negative thoughts. Here is a tip for you…….if you want to rid your mind of negative thoughts, turn off the news and stop buying newspapers. You will be amazed at how different you begin to feel.
I hope this post helped, see you tomorrow!
